Aruba Beach Cafe
1 Commercial Blvd, Lauderdale By The Sea, Estates of Fort Lauderdale,
First place I visited when I moved to South Florida... I have eaten here over a dozen times in the last 4 years and I love it. One of my top places to eat and to bring guests when they visit from the North East! I love the atmosphere and the food is great..

Hiro Japanese Restaurant
3007 Ne 163rd St, North Miami Beach, Estates of Fort Lauderdale,
The first time I went I really enjoyed it. Great food and ambiance. However, the second time I went the service was very slow and my tuna sashimi came out room temperature. The third time I went (6/7/07) the food took forever to be made, and halfway through my meal I discovered a FINGERNAIL in my food. The manager had the nerve to check all of my nails, as well as the nails of the people in my party, accusing that we had put it there. She claimed that none of her chefs nails matched the one that was in my food (and was unfortunatly in my mouth, too). I am absolutely disgusted.

Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor Restauran
126 S Federal Hwy, Dania, Estates of Fort Lauderdale,
We have been loyal customers for over 35 years and we live in New York!!! We fly into Ft Lauderdale and go directly to Jaxson's, my wife LOVES the mocha chip with big pieces of chocolate and I crave the pistachio, the peach, and the black raspberry. The wait can be long, the setting is lowdown, but the Ice Cream is great and so is the food. Terrific burgers, fries, dogs, sandwiches. Prices are fair . . .but OHHHHHH THE ICE CREAM ! ! ! It is our first stop when we land and our last stop before we take off and she weighs 115 lbs - we don't eat ice cream at home.

Mai-Kai Restaurant and Lounge
3599 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, Estates of Fort Lauderdale,
We are planning our yearly visit back to the area and the one place the whole family (ages 8-60) agrees on going back to is the Mai Kai!! It is a bit pricey, but it is so much fun for everyone that it is worth the expense. We thought the food was great and the entertainment was wonderful. The gardens were open and it was beautiful and relaxing to walk through after the meal. The only complaint is that the tables are really crammed together. With all the people entering and exiting along with the service people I felt a little crowded. Overall it was a great experience.
